This is Chuck Paronto from Menominee Michigan. I was with Second Battalion First Marines, First Marines Division Vietnam from '67 to '69. And this is called Confederates of Nam's Garrisons. I wrote this after going to PTSD program in 1985.

In Nam we fought for the best of others, so we
Were and are the best of brothers.

"Incoming!" was the scream heard night and day,
to survive and pray was the soldier's way.

The monument built to honor our deeds does not
Convey our feelings or needs. Simply a wall
Of division in ground, to honor the victims
And those yet not found.

The greed of the Leaders that sent us to war
Came not from the people, just from the core.
Their peace efforts were plain as day and night
For not a soul in America came under V C sights.

When Tet erupted in '68 the people at home
Developed a hate, for a war whose "core"
Would only save face is a terrible shame
in our homeland's … peace.

Two decades have passed since Vietnam fell,
Yet my memory recalls it fully so well.
When most of our feelings are in movies and songs…
Today I know that….we are the CONG.

For my Brothers in Arms of the Last Patrol.
